Welcome to the Catholic Church in Wisbech website.

Join us throughout this season of joy as we continue to encounter the great mystery of the Lord’s Resurrection.

Paul’s poignant remarks “if Christ did not rise from the dead....” challenges us to examine our value base. We either believe that there is more to our very being, more to the ones we long and continue to see as distinctly other, uniques beings with whom we can relate across the vicissitudes of time, knowable, recognisable, yet not externally or intellectually the same.... Dust does return to dust ultimately, but there is a sense deep within us, which we have no way of proving, which no scientific instruments we can devise, now or in the future, can measure, discern, intuit or hypothesis as existing... The ‘idea‘ or ‘experience‘ of our being somehow persists — it like our experience of the rotation of the earth—most of the time we are unaware of it, but if we pause and look up, like experiencing the platform moving for an instant as the train rushes past us, (not an illusion but a reality of our being in motion in space) we know , yet know not how, we simply are... more than tangible matter....

Christ’s resurrection is not resuscitation, a bringing back to tangible reality, a genomic expression of existence subject to the laws of nature... the resurrection is a form of transcendence from genomic expression... it’s emotional and psychological impingement into the consciousness of witnesses provides an albeit very poor and at times very tangible experience of transcendence...
